Day 22--Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day.  A day when we remember those who have fallen in the fight to protect us.  Our family lost a close friend in 2002.  Daniel Aaron Romero and the men he was with were murdered by terrorists who booby trapped a cash of missals. It was awful, they had to DNA test every piece to make sure the right pieces went to the right families, and one family didn't even have anything to bury.  That is the horror of war and that is how much the terrorists hate us.  That is why we can't just leave. That is why we must have brave men and women willing to lay down their lives, willing to die in the most horrific ways, to protect us.  He was my brother's best friend, my best friends older brother, our dear friends' son, the woman who cared for me and my brother while our parents worked to provide for us. We don't need a special day to remember him, we feel the hole in our lives and see the pain our dear friends' live with daily.  It's nice to have other's remember him and the others that have fallen.  So today we celebrate with our dear friends and remember the man that gave his all to protect us.
